A digital urban partnership to make social impact in Groningen!
Together with local urban communities, the municipality and youngsters, we are working on a digital urban club for the unbound urban sport & culture community. A place where youngsters themselves can decide with whom, where and when they want to participate and that strengthens the community.

Our ambition is to make Groningen an active urban sports city where both urban youth and non-athletes are stimulated for urban sports & culture. This will make Groningen the 1st Northern city in the Netherlands that combines urban, gamification elements, sports and culture to get young people moving and strengthen social cohesion and the local communities.
Firstly an activation campaign is being created in collaboration with youngsters, local sports- & youth coaches and policy officers. The CityLegends-app will be used as a tool to host online events. The campaign will transform the city into an 'active urban sports city’, where urban youngsters are the ‘athletes’, the citizens the ‘audience’ and non-urban youngsters are stimulated to participate in urban sports. Even in times of COVID-19!
The urban scene can share their thoughts about the public space in themes such as safety, quality and maintenance. Hereby Groningen gets direct feedback about what the urban scenes think about the public space. Giving them the tools to make better cities for urban sports & culture in which all urban athletes are involved and benefit from.
